Arkansas House Targets Cryptocurrency Miners
|
Cryptocurrency miners, beware: The Arkansas House has given final approval to a pair of bills aimed at giving state and local governments more control over cryptocurrency mining operations, a thriving and energy-intensive industry.
|
The two bills would require digital asset mining operations to implement noise mitigation strategies and repeal the ban on local governments adopting noise ordinances specific to cryptocurrency mining.

THE legislation It would also require cryptocurrency mining operations to obtain state permits and prohibit foreign ownership of cryptocurrency mines from adversary countries such as China.

Lawmakers are showing growing interest in cracking down on cryptocurrency mines that are proliferating in America’s suburbs. High-profile Virginia Sen. Danica Roem (D) has introduced several bills this year, and more are in the works.

A bipartisan bill would bar children from social media
|
Senators Ted Cruz (R-Texas) and Brian Schatz (D-Hawaii) have introduced legislation that would set a minimum age for online social media users at 13. Users under 18 should get parental permission before using social media apps. Read more about The hill.

Microsoft will ban US police departments from using generative artificial intelligence through its Azure tool, under terms of service changes introduced Wednesday. |
Major retailers in Vermont and Maine, including L.L. Supreme Court Won’t Block Texas Anti-Porn Law
|
The Supreme Court refused to block a Texas law that required pornographic websites to verify a user’s age. The high court denied an emergency appeal brought by the Free Speech Coalition, a trade association for the adult entertainment industry. Read more about The hill.
