First Crypto Investor Known as ‘Bitcoin Jesus’ Accused of US Tax Fraud
Roger Ver, an early cryptocurrency investor sometimes called Bitcoin Jesus, has been accused of mail fraud, tax evasion and filing false returns to avoid paying at least $48 million in U.S. taxes.
Ver, who acquired the nickname after proselytizing Bitcoin everywhere he visited in the cryptocurrency’s early days, was arrested this weekend in Spain on U.S. criminal charges, according to the U.S. Department of Justice indictment. . The US will seek Ver’s extradition.
